I kinda think it being an AK pattern rifle is more baffling.

Sig 556 maybe? Adopted by a few departments and easily mistaken for an AK pattern...just spitballing though.

ARs are the modern equivalent of the lever action....

Thank God they dont carry man sized cartridges anymore, we dont need that on the streets.

Oh my I see why my explination came across wrong. I Apologize for saying "any ol officer jbt" I guess In my head I was thinkin hes just on traffic duty not protection detail. But of course I understand that situations can change in a heartbeat. My bad. I was just more or less curious of when they went with an ak or did he bring his own?

To clarify, that was not an Officer with the Moore Police Department. The MPD Motor units do not mount rifles to their motorcycles. And no one is the MPD is allowed to carry an AK platform, only AR15 pattern rifles are allowed....
