This story speaks for itself about the potential for violence, but I've represented dozens of 1%ers over my career and ALL of them have been good, respectful clients. They are much nicer to my staff than a lot of so-called "Christians." Clearly, my experience is different than those here in law enforcement, etc., and I'm not naïve enough to believe they are just choir boys out for a Sunday ride, but I have never had a negative interaction, either professionally or personally, with anyone in a 1%er MC. In fact, when I was a freshman at OU, I helped a guy with a broken down pan head, and he and his bros. helped me later on when I needed it.

^^^ This has been similar to my experience in my business. Over the years weve had tons of bikers as well as the big time car club guys come in to our shop in Modesto CA and alot of bikers at our Des Moines IA shop for work. I have made some good solid long time friends from those customers. In the past Ive also either set up my mobile shop at many of their gatherings, swap meets and weekend parties or have been playing in a band at many of their events. Biker meets pay good money for the festival type gigs, and Ive always managed to make it home afterwards just fine, and with my money still in my pocket too. I blend in with them I guess because I look similar and so far never have had one problem with any of them, good friends and good customers. They never seem to be any worse or better people than other customers to me. For my business, theyre actually better customers for me than most mainstream busineses, and they for sure tip way better than my other customers. They seem to appreciate what we do for them more. Its just not my place to judge people by what they obviously do for a 'living', livelihood or whatever. Business is business, they have money to spend and they are welcome as long as they can pay me for my services when we're finished with them and no illegal shite goes down in my place while theyre there shutting me down. What they do outside of my places like most other businesses is all their business.

Old friends of mine in Pawhuska hold one of the largest gatherings in this area in the summer and it has always been alot of fun to got to, its like going back home, a chance to go see alot of good old friends and party it up. It has never gotten out of hand when I was there. I always like to see guys and gals that Ive worked on come up to me at meets to show me their works I did, its always cool to see how happy they are with my creations, makes me proud to see them happy. And always glad one or two dont kill me afterwards that werent as happy with theirs...

Duh, if you're providing them legal services what else are they gonna do but be nice? It's not any different then going to a heart surgeon. Do you really wanna piss off the guy that's fixing to crack your chest open?

I've provided several with legal services also and never had an issue. Usually always polite. I've always found people treat me the way I treat them.

These guys aren't the cold blooded, monsters the media portray. There just folks living on the edge of losing thier freedoms due to poor decisions like a lot of other people.

Not to be rude, but I'm not sure I understand all of the support for bikers in a thread concerning biker gangs shooting up a local restaurant filled with innocents. I don't think all "bikers" are evil people, but really, if they are associated with the people in this incident, I'd be willing to bet they aren't the kind of people you want your daughter to bring home.

I put on a lot of satire early in the thread.

In the early 70's I lived next door to the President of Satan's Angles. An all black motorcycle gang in the Kansas City area. Our front doors were 20' apart in a low rent apartment complex.

He rode a pan head Harley, and I rode a 450 Honda. Why in the hell that guy took to liking me, I don't know. He was a heavyweight Army golden gloves champ for two years, but had been out for three or four years. He also rode bulls in all black rodeo's around the region. He was a huge man.

He would invite me over to have beers with his buddies. Eddie Murphy in his early days would be on an 8 track with the N word in every sentence. They just laughed and thought it was the funniest thing they heard, but as a veteran of several classes in the Army that preached the Nword was not acceptable, I didn't know what to do, so I just grinned, and said oh hell ya that was funny.

Sam and I would take rides to the Black Crow club in North KC. I'd be the only white guy in the place. He made me park my Honda across the street, not in the line-up of Harley's.
Got a lot of stares, but never had an issue. I have some sympathy to this day with a black person being the only one in a room of a different race.
I'll agree with some that as long as you didn't violate their rules, you were as safe as you could be.

Cheat at the pool table, lie to one of them, your evening was not going to turn out well.

Honesty/respect among the members is the rule they live on.

All that being said, they survive because of dealing in drugs, guns, and other illicit activities.

I've never seen a serious biker group put on a bake sale to raise money. The Texas group falls into that circle.

As I understand it, the Pawhuska gathering has stopped? This is my understanding; the couple that put it on in Pawhuska got divorced. The male part of the half put it on in the spring, and the female part of the divorce puts it on in the fall?

The one in the spring has moved to Ponca City. Its now called the River Road Rally. Its a little more than 1/3 mile from my house now.

Its been rained out for the last two years. They still show up, but I'm sure the attendance is not near what it was in Pawhuska.

Straights like to feel cool by recounting incidents in which they've interacted with those who live outside the law and were deemed cool enough to walk away unscathed.

All people minus sociopaths are social creatures and behave on a similar plane. Sociopaths are rare. 1%ers are just people. Fat people in ****** clothes on ****** yuppie bikes (anything post pan-head), but people. People that value "respect" and money over human life and personal/societal evolution. Nobody, murderous criminal or faultless hero, walks around being a dick 24/7. We're all "nice" and "cool".

Not all of us are idiots. If you wanna glorify a bunch of low life scum sucking drug dealers then that's your choice. I say piss on'em, lock them up in jail and toss the key.

I wonder if the clubs present are gonna do the right thing and send the waitresses a big tip for all the hassle? You know, from all the money they make as machinists, welders, truck drivers, and insurance agents.

They're all just good people...... just got sucked in that's all.
