I agree with your first sentence. It was a bad hit but not terribly egregious. I think the punishment was just, not something to get kicked off the team over IMO.

When Mayfield improvs he takes a ton of little chip shots as he's heading out of bounds or at the end of his runs and it's about time he starts minimizing chances that these types of injuries can happen.

There was one replay angle that showed it was blatant as hell. All the others I was with you on until I saw the one behind the QB. Textbook case of targeting.
