See Sooner's reply above. Life isn't fair, and you get to have a free society, or a "fair" society. You can't have both.
The U.S. has never been anything close to a free society. Well, maybe in a few isolated areas before boats hit the shores they came close. But even then not for long.
A true free society is incongruous with capitalism and private ownership. And modern economics in general. You get what you make, find, or take. Until someone else takes it from you.
Never been free. Not here. Freedom is downright anti-American. 1776...all men are created equal? My ass. What a stupid Hallmark sentiment. Don't let Georges St-Pierre and DJ Qualls eat for a few days, then toss 'em in a room with keys to a 1-person smorgasbord and see just how damn equal they are. Right to life? Right to pursue happiness? Mamby-pamby ********. Earn your happiness, bitches. Earn every breath. Chimpanzees don't give each other those rights. Why do we?
Not everyone makes it in a free society. And those who do aren't punished for their hand in the losers loss.
