When I was quoted they were higher than Liberty Mutual. However I suppose you get what you pay for. Last May my neighborhood got extensive damage. My insurance company was hard to deal with, wouldnt pay for certain things, their prices to fix were low. My neighbors had USAA and their stuff was fixed right away without hassle. More details is this the homes were built in 1999. The Air conditioners were on the old freon so when the outside units were destroyed mine would only cover the outside unit. Though the new freon was now man dated by the EPA. My neighbors got entire new unit while mine paid for the outdoor unit.

I qualify, just didn't feel like filling out all the data fields they ask for before they can tell me stuff I already know. Thanks for the feedback gang.

I have had USAA for 28 years. If your eligible I recomend calling them.

I agree. I've had USAA for like 36 years. Never had a problem with a claim. I also like the other services they have, such as the auto buying service. Overall, I am very happy with them and wouldn't even think of switching.

I had USAA for over 20 years but the boost they hit me with when my kids became teens sent me looking. I chose Liberty Mutual but they kept creeping up. I'm now with AAA. On homeowners insurance, USAA has such a small group that a storm will result in significant hikes in the affected area.

Be prepared to be inundated with e-mails and phone calls when you fill out the form online. At the time I checked the dude told me they didn't provide homeowners, jewelry and firearm riders, or motorcycle insurance, they partner with Progressive. That ended my interest in them.

They covered only commissioned officers before 1995 and I've read a lot of negative stuff online about them going downhill since they opened it up. They did enjoy a very unique reputation prior to that. I sold cars in the early 90's and if someone pulled out a USAA card you knew they were going to be no problem. Now they do seem like just another insurance company.
