Yep, they kept wanting to call and talk to me, or come to the lot. NOPE!
Everything by email.
What vehicle are you looking at?

Absolutely... then they stonewall and say they won't do any more online, you have to talk to them. Screw that. I've thought about buying a new truck, my Tahoe has over 200k on it. But honestly, with the amount of work I've put in it, and the hassle I'd have to go through looking for another, I just don't want to deal with it.

I wrapped up the deal in a week.
Had 10 dealerships involved to start, one in Joplin to get away from gulf state dealers.
One by one, they dropped out as the price continued to drop.
When it got to the last two, they were very close, and would budge so figured we were at bottom dollar. Pretty simple.

The magic words are, "total out the door price." Always negotiate for , "total out the door price."

Indeed. IF (and I do mean IF) I ever end up dealing with a car lot again, this will be my mantra. From the beginning - I am negotiating total out the door price, including any doc fees, addons, etc. If the final out the door price is a dime more than we agree upon, I will walk. Period.

Dishonesty is a deal-breaker.

Yep. The way I said it was write a check and pick up the keys price.
Document fees are nothing but additional money to the dealerships.
Northcutt in Enid charges nothing for document fees vs Norton in Tulsa charges $400. The price varies dealer to dealer.

That's old school dealership tricks. More and more of them though are realizing the newest generation doesn't care to haggle and just wants hassle free, no BS experience.

Some of them are offering a "no haggle" price, HOWEVER, some of them are hiding behind that and using it as another trick. Those are the one that I despise. They claim you are getting a good deal, but they are basically trying to head you off at the pass and saying they won't negotiate.

Thought I had a deal made for a new Escape. Car was prepped and gassed, keys exchanged and all papers signed (except the sales contract). My saleslady was one of the best I have seen and bears no fault in this debacle. After waiting quite a while, I was called back to the Credit Manager's office to sign the sales contract. As he went through the payments, I questioned the total amount and was told that it was the agreed price for the Escape plus an extended warranty, at a cost of $4500. I immediately told him I was not interested in the extended warranty and refused to sign the contract. He went next door to the Sales Manager and returned, announcing that I could not buy the car at that price, without the extended warranty.

I left his office and returned the keys to my saleslady. In almost 50 years of buying Fords, this is my worst experience. Sure wanted that little blue Escape but, figure I will shop around for a more reputable dealer. Roberts Ford of Prior, OK, is now the worst Ford dealer I have experienced.

Not saying it happens every time, BUT, it sure happened to me.

My brother in law worked at that dealership when it was owned by a family that was bought out by the present owner. He said most of the salesmen left immediately once they went through orientation. He retired when they sold out. His feedback from those in Pryor is the owner of those dealerships is a wolf in sheep's clothingl
