So, it seems that getting .22 ammo is no longer a big issue. Now, if we can only get it's price back in some semblance of order.

Yeah... reminds me of the gasoline shortage and long lines at the pumps (late '70s or early '80s?). After prices skyrocketed, suddenly there was plenty for everyone.

Yup. Increase profits to offset other products' losses, then when demand is highest, control consumer price by restraining manufacturing quantities. Oldest capitalist game on earth, now flourishing in the ammunition industry....(has already struck in the firearm manufacturing lines)

But at least there does seem to be more available, even if artificially rationed.

I picked up some Winchester white box 525rd boxes at Academy recently for about .06/round. I doubt it's going to get much cheaper than that.

The gasoline shortages in the 70's were found to be artificially generated by the oil companies to drive up low prices.

Also possibly by the oil embargo imposed on the US by OPEC to protest US support of Israel. The gasoline shortages were very time limited and did seem to have a direct cause-effect link to the embargo.
The price spikes however were much more tied to fear engendered speculation that started driving up crude prices and in those situations everyone starts covering their hinders including the companies.

I have seen a great deal of .22 LR available for from 5.5 to 9 cents per round depending upon the specific type/brand of ammo...also noticed that bulk packs have started reappearing with regularity and remaining on the shelves for a day or two before disappearing. I'm not sure if that is because the supply of bulk packs has actually gone up or because the overall price drops have made it less profitable for the neckbeards and so they aren't scarfing up the bulk packs with their usual vigor.
