Clean brass check brass for off center flash holes and cracks.Check brass for stuck media..1 piece at a time.
Anneal.
Brush neck insides.
Lube .
Resize .
Remove lube.
Trim.
Chamfer inside and out.
Brush again to remove any shavings.
Qtip the inside of each case as final cleaning.

Then I start measuring Neck ID on each case and check for out of round necks.
Then sort as to neck ID.
.0005" differences.
Now I also sort as to where shoulder Ogive is at.
I am more anal than most here..

With new cases I deburr the inside of the flash holes and cut crimps if they have crimps.

I hate to lose my cases at the range or hunting.
I also have vertebra in my neck that are collapsed and can only do so much before my hands go numb.
That really sucks.
I can load maybe 10-20 and have to back off for a while.

Now see swampratt does way more than I do. Way more. And I hate just the part that I do. But Ill bet a lot of money his stuff is way more consistent.

On my rifle cases I trim flash hole if they are new. But first I size, trim, chamfer inside and out. Yup, thats about it. And I still hate it.
Pistol cases I dont prep. Just run them through my progressive.

My suggestion list for starting.

And if you are loading for 9mm you *REALLY* want at least a turret. The nice thing about the Lee Turret is that it is Auto-Indexing so you can get some speed up loading bulk ammo. The indexer is easily removable for precision loads where you don't want that. For .300 Blk you will see savings like you will for match .223 ammo. .300 Blk is expensive to buy.

Brass prep is the most mind-numbing part of reloading. I don't do near as much as swampratt. But I haven't really gotten into the precision game either. Even without all the steps he does, consistent reloads will typically match/beat factory match ammo. And if you go to the extent he does you can smoke them.

Finally, the big plus to the Lee Turret is that you can swap calibers fast (sub 1min), and for pretty cheap (turret $10 min, Lee powder meter $35 if you want to swap fast and frequent). Compare that to the Dillon (which I have also) where a full-on quick swap is $200+. Having spare turrets means you can leave your dies setup, just pull the turret and store "loaded".

WOW. I can tell this is an entire world that I know NOTHING about......yet! I already know that Swampratt and I are alike in more ways than none. I am tedious to a fault, and my attention to detail is often the greatest distraction in my life. I am really looking forward to getting into this. Thanks again, guys.

Guys, I'm really wanting to do both. I'd like to be able to reload my own plinking ammo for 9mm, 300 Blackout (subsonic), and .223 for fartin' around with my son. But, I also want to be able to develop the perfect match load for my precision rifles because once every two weeks, I really enjoy taking an entire day and just working on my long-range shooting (300 - 400 yards is long range for me). I'm guessing I need to be looking into the opposite of the single stage...what's it called....a turret?

I missed this post.

You want a "Progressive" press, not a turret, for serious bulk loading. The Lee Turret is just a quick/cheap entry into reloading. I have one, and use it a lot, but it will NOT keep pace with a true auto-indexing progressive.
