So, those that don't share your opinion are "dopes" that just don't understand??

Here is what I understand......I understand that some criminals were raised poorly, maybe even taught to be criminals.....others were raised well and simply chose the wrong path despite their upbringing......I also understand the grief of losing a loved one. What I don't understand are friends and relatives who attempt to excuse the criminals actions while telling themselves and others that the dead criminal didn't deserve to die for their actions, that whoever killed them should have acted differently.

I also don't understand the stupidity of saying "at least they are still alive"!

Yes, the shooter is still alive.......and he will replay this over and over, he will question whether he did the right thing and he will deal with the aftereffects for the rest of his life......all because some scumbag decided to commit a crime.

If I was a family member of the scumbags that got killed, I'd be angry at them and ashamed for what they did and I'd be apologizing for said scumbags actions, even though I had nothing to do with it.

But hey, I'm just a "dope" that doesn't understand

I don't think anyone is excusing the actions of the teenagers or has much sympathy for them. But family and friends have just as much right to grieve over the loss of their loved one as anyone else that loses someone close to them.

But the "media" doesn't belong to anyone, everyone gets to express themselves. It's like they have the protection of some document written in the 18th century by some "enlightened" folks. We don't have to like what they say but we shouldn't suppress their expression.

No tears out of me for the dead or their family. How many times had this group of vandals broken into other peoples homes? How much anguish had they put other people thru by breaking in and robbing them of their possessions? How much peace of mind have they destroyed?

If the family wants to grieve on Facebook, fine, then grieve. Raking the victim over the coals for Not shooting them in the kneecaps is not grieving..

I understand that people's families may not be to blame for their actions, and that they will be grieving in their own way, regardless. But I can't give a pass to people who try to blame someone who was defending themselves. When faced by three masked intruders in your own home in broad daylight, choosing a smaller weapon or less lethal point to aim is just insane. I get that his family is not thinking clearly, but I can tell you, if I were the one they were castigating online, I'd open the fecking floodgate on their stupidity for all the world to see.
