Remember the recent uproar over the USA flag not being in the new movie? I just saw a commercial for the movie, and the final scene showed the lander and the flag.

Do you suppose a change in message?

Okay, so a quick Google search tells me that there are several scenes where the US flag is shown; what is not shown was the actual planting of the flag on the Moon's surface. Both the director and the actor, Ryan Goosling, who portrayed Neil Armstrong defended this decision, quite well actually, and both stated it was not intended as an affront towards the USA or the Flag itself. I think I will go see this movie, and then decide for myself, if it is a fair portrayal or not rather than letting a bunch of second-hand tweets influence me.

I guess my biggest beef is the casting. The liberal Hollywood elite are always going on about cultural appropriation and inappropriate casting. So what made them think it was a good idea to cast a Canadian actor to play an American hero?

Plausible deniability. :puke:

The planting of the flag on the moon was a significant event in U.S. History that the entire world watched in awe. For them to not bother with it is plenty enough for me to fly the finger at going to see it. :hellno: :finger:

Very Significant in the cold war and the race to space. Russia embarrassed the US by getting the first person, Yuri Gregarin in space while we were sending chimps, and they orbited if I remember right?
Getting to the moon was a huge political as well as scientific accomplishment.
I don't go to movies, so I won't see it.

Yeah, I didn’t know that guy Goosling was a Canadian. Why couldn’t they get like Russell Crowe maybe?

I’m just glad it wasn’t some Nancy-Boy like like that dork Tom Cruise. I’d rather see Pee Wee Herman play the role than him.

The controversy was over the fact that the PLANTING of the flag was not shown in the movie. There were always several scenes in the movie that showed the flag after it had been planted. That's why the controversy itself was a little bit baffling to some people.
