When done with courtesy and kindness, it serves to remind the masses that those of us with means of defence aren't evil, and and can be quite friendly.

I don't practice it daily, but it's nice to shake hands with somebody who doesn't know that we mean no harm. And I do actually shake hands when the opportunity presents.
Yet the folks who see you and do not interact with you draw an inference from open carrying. Same as I do it serves no real purpose other than making the public even more nervous about guns and makes you a target of folks bent on nefarious action. Trust me I know to the tune of 3k in legal fees and 1k in fines what open carry can get you

If your going to OC, be sure to wear your concealed carry badge on your hip right next to the gun. It will make people much more easy around you.

I can't believe that this debate is still going on. It's 2018, and there are still jackholes on both sides saying the other is stupid. Who cares? Both are legal, and hopefully in a year or two neither will require permitting. As for representing the 2A community, how about treat folks with respect regardless of how you choose to carry and otherwise tend to your own knitting. I comfortable carry, which for me means a leather pancake holster on my hip. If folks see it, they see it; and if not I don't care either way. I have had several great conversations with people who have noticed, and never a negative encounter.

I don't understand why this argument persists within the community, but if Hillary or Bloomberg said "open carry is dumb" they'd be told to FOAD unanimously.

There are still folks (even here in Oklahoma) that are absolutely terrified at the sight of a gun.

A couple years ago, I called the two local Landmark banks and asked about their "no guns" policy.

One lady (a VP/loan officer) said she'd be too scared to say anything to a customer if they were carrying a firearm.

Apparently she thought they'd just shoot her rather than leave. :/

I won't insult others here who do choose to open carry, as some here in this thread have done, (you Insulters; please check that whole thing about "no insults "in the rules) but I don't practice it as I see no real advantage to it other than perhaps increasing my draw by a fraction of a second. I prefer the element of surprise, thus, my weapon is concealed.

I will say that I think calling someone names who chooses to open carry and even to insinuate the low level of their testosterone, or how high they can pee, while sitting safely behind one's keyboard is pretty petty.

You are welcome to voice your opinion of the topic, but keep your rude comments about other members to yourself.

Those are cool Dennis. Do you prefer the gold tone or the silver? Or does it depend on what color your outfit is?

I special ordered the two tone gold and silver version with a diamond mounted in the eagles eye. I prefer to carry mine on a neck chain just like Serpico.
