Whether it exnorates or convicts is immaterial. Every law enforcement officer needs to be cammed up.

Hi. I’m his friend that got hit. The officer was off duty. He was in his squad car going home. And I was in front of him on a loop exit yielding to get onto another highway when he just hit me. And he admitted it was his fault.City is self-insured. By the taxpayers.
I predict that your friend gets squat. Cops will claim officer was on a call, and your friend should have yielded to the squad car.
No lights, no siren, no matter.
Hi. I’m that friend. I did file with my insurance. But they told me sorry. That I only have liability so they won’t do crap. They won’t even help me fight the city to get my car taken care of.She can file a tort claim against the city. I’d suggest she file in her insurance and pay her deductible. She will get it back when the insurance company settles with the city.

Hi! I’m that friend that got hit! My car is a 2006 Taurus. And where the tail light is where it got hit all of that is literally pushed into my trunk. What year and model of car? Is the floor under the trunk bent or bowed? Any absorbers or rebar under the bumper cover crushed? Some of that stuff can get pricey fast.
As noted the cities self insure. Anyone in Oklahoma can self insure with proof of sufficient liquid assets, even individuals, but the required cash is stupid high. Usually it's only cities and counties and state entities and the tribes and large companies (like Quiktrip for example self insured last I knew, and my employer a large insurance company also self insures).
Anyway... They should have a risk management department that handls it. The city, not necessarily the PD. If it drags out much longer I'd go through my own policy as recommended and have my company square up with them later.

Hi. I’m that friend that got hit. We called the police station they sent us over to OKC action center who sent us over to Risk management who then sent us over to the municipal courts. They sent out a claim packet but they got their lawyers involved now my mom (who is the legal owner of the car) and I are getting a lawyer for us. I don’t care about the money. I just want my car either fixed or replaced.First make sure the correct agency did an accident report. There is an unwritten jurisdictional rule between OCPD and OHP. IIRC, getting ON the interstate, OHP should be working the accident. Getting OFF the interstate should be OCPD. Weird I know.
Okc Risk Management. 405-297-3891
Oklahoma City Action Center 405-297-2535
When a person calls in a complaint to the Action Center, the agency involved has 48 hours to respond to the complaint. If not, the department head has to answer why the situation was not addressed and what action is or has been taken or it gets sent to the city council. I’ve had to work several of these complaints and every time I got one, I was told it was the next item on my list of things to do that day and if I didn’t, I better have a good explanation.
I may have some more information later. I reached out to an old OCPD buddy of mine and got his voicemail.
Liability is really all that I can afford and with that car, it really isn’t worth full coverage. But I’m getting a lawyer to help fight this. All I want is my car either fixed or replaced. Other then that I don’t want anything else. That’s a shame. Hope the city settles with you then. Carrying liability only just leaves you vulnerable to the many people driving without insurance.
