What are some things that are preferred on muzzle loaders? scope mount would be a must since I have eye issues after a head injury. I know nothing about them and would not mind picking one up for next muzzle season. I do like T/C, but not sure if they are lacking anything that would make them a no go.
I really like the break open inline muzzleloaders and if you can get the nickle barrel or stainless barrel clean up seems to be easier.
One thing that is a pain is a primer that is hard to get to or hard to get out.
Look at that aspect because sometimes you need another shot.
My favorite so far has been a CVA Kodiak 50 cal.
I like the 1:28 twist for 295 gr power belts and those even work well in the 1:48 twist.

I started muzzle loader hunting back in the late 80's with a TC Hawken .50 cal. cap lock using regular black powder and patched round balls.
I hunted with it for many years and took several deer plus one good sized wild sow hog up in the mountains down by Wilburton.....I was deer hunting when I got the sow but she just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
I liked the more traditional Hawken look (and still do) but I'll admit it was kind of a pain in the butt to clean.....if I had to do it again I'd probably lean towards a inline or break open simply for the ease of cleaning.

I have used 250gr XTP .45 bullets with sabots
325gr lead bullets
777 pellets or measured powder in Pyrodex, 777 or Goex FF. All work equally well.
It is a bit unconventional, but I like it.
