It's a new formulation I believe. Not the same MSMA of the old days I was told at the feed store. It was for sale during the obama days as well with restrictions that it could only be used on golf courses, ditches, etc. Not for residential use.
I have a quart of it from the 90's in the shop. It would be interesting to compare the ingredients with today's MSMA to see if it is indeed a different formulation.[/QUOTE

I have 3 quarts of it in the white plastic bottles

Out of curiosity, I compared labels of a 20 year old bottle with the current Target 6 MSMA at Atwoods. Dad used to buy it by the case from Jay's before giving himself arsenic poisoning back in 08. It was a whole ordeal, sheriffs interviewed my mom and everything lmao. He swore off using it, was gonna throw it all away. Naturally, I talked him into letting me take care of it properly. He wasn't happy spotting it in my garage a few years ago. Funny enough, the MSMA content of the new formula is 2% less, but the arsenic content is 2% higher. I'd be curious to get feedback from more old bottles of the liquid gold.

Just for posterity, before someone assumes my dads an idiot, he was spraying out of one of those hise end sprayers in his normal yard-work attire. Jorts and a tee. It creates too much particulate spray, and while the cool mist feels good, arsenic absorbs through the skin. After feeling like he had the flu for a year or so, a doctor about ready to label him with autoimmune disease, he put two and two together by finally reading the label. He was the chief chemist for a global oil company. He does see the extraordinary amount of irony there and laughs about it too.

Edit: Redacted personal details. Can't have you scrotes knowing too much about me.

GM so are you implying I should consider getting rid of what MSMA I have? Not arguing but not sure what your post was saying.

Just don't shower in it lol. When it went off the shelves to the general public, it was still available to anyone with an applicators license, so it was never really "off the market".

Not at all, just saying not to make it aerosol with an improper spray method. I have a buddy that still does, but he puts on a white suit with a full face respirator. Too much hassle for me. I just spot spray with it out of a hand can. It's way too good of a herbicide to ditch, just a cautious warning through experience. Trying to be a bro.

I used MSMA often to treat my pasture and kill certain grasses. Always got it on hands when mixing and just rinsed it off and it would burn. Found out that it absorbs into the skin. I believe to this day thats the reason I had my rotten colon taken out last year.
BE CAREFUL, these chemicals are dangerous and I was young and dumb. Use gloves and a face shield when messing with it. 2-4d is basically what was used in Vietnam as a defoliant and alot of the men in that war have lingering nervous system disorders

I will admit that I am not nearly as cautious as I should be when using any chemicals. I've got some in my garage cabinets that have been around (and, some, off the market) for many years. I've got MSMA and two different jugs of glyphosate. I did not realize that MSMA could be that hazardous. Thanks for the enlightenment!
