I like Manhattans. Classic cocktail but it must have rye whisky to be correct. Unfortunately a lot of bartenders don't know what rye whisky is.
The same bartenders don't have a clue what an old fashioned is either.
When it comes to drinks with vermouth I’ve never really cared for the stuff. My own personal preference when it comes to drinks with vermouth is a bastardization of my own. I substitute the vermouth with a port in it instead. I like Neogroni’s and I bastardize them also. A cross between an an Americano and a Neogroni. Most of the drinks I make are potent. Like a true Long Island ice tea.

Love some Long Island Iced Teas as well. The best steakhouse in Ponca has one that is incredible. You won't need more than one.

my favorite which is Woodford Reserve Double Oaked. The nectar of the Gods. Don't get it often, but it's a must have at Elk Camp.

There was a rumor last month that it was going to start being allocated. A few stores in the Tulsa area got some in, in the last few weeks, so who really knows. I stocked up just in case.. lol

Im drooling. We are having a hard time getting the wild Turkey 101 Rye down here in the city. Been a long minute since I’ve seen it. It’s probably just sold out every time I finally get around to hitting up the store.

Byron's by the Capitol is the place to go.
The whisky I like for normal use is $23 in Ponca and you pay a premium for using a CC at some stores.
At Byrons, it's $16.99, buy 6 and get an additional discount.
Since I have to visit the va on occasion, the stores in Ponca don't get my business.

it won double gold a week or so ago at the San Francisco spirits completion, and I started scooping them up the next day. Learned my lesson with Weller 12 years ago. Park hill south had some in last weekend. If you ever get to Tulsa let me know and I’ll hook you up with a few bottles. They are still 20.00 for now, but the double gold awards have a tendency to change that shortly afterwards.

I also order from Bob’s discount liquor out of California. Their shipping is only 13.99 if you buy 150.00 worth of spirits.

What’s the name of this steak house? I have a good friend that lives up there. Next time I visit I’ll have to hit it up.
Rusty Barrel. They just built a new bar downstairs. You have to hit a doorbell to get in just like the old speakeasy's in the Bar or Restaurant.
Access to the restaurant is in the alley. Bar with access to the restaurant is in front. You can't get restaurant food in the bar, only bar food.

Thanks. That reminds me of a restaurant in Blair just north of Altus. The back door steak house. He also owns a bar across the street called the Oriental drug store or something like that. Been a long minute since I’ve been that way. The guy that owns it also owns the Riverside Café and the Old Plantation in Medicine Park. This sounds like something he would own.
