going on our 18th cruise in sept - out of Athens Greece - went on a baltic including St Petersburg couple yrs ago - that is out of the question any more - worse was our first = a Carnival in the Gulf - claimed they couldn't return to NewOrleans because of a low power line over the Miss River so went to Gulfport - dam near tipped the ship over when they missed the channel at 2am - emptied the pools tipped all the crap off shelves in shops and bars and a bunch of slot machines off their mount - coast guard shut them down and had to wait till daylight to proceed - then ride buses to NO

I know nothing about ships but....wow the center of gravity on cruise ships looks way too high.
Disease spread potential also looks too high: novovirus has spread through several of them like wildfire.

Here, but occasionally There.
We did one, an Alaska cruise about 5 years ago. Really enjoyed it, and I'd do another. Preferably Hawaii, Alaska, Canada... the Caribbean cruises just don't interest me as much, although I'd do that too.

Same here on the Caribbean cruises. No way I want to be at sea for days on end with nothing but water to take pictures of. At least with the Alaskan cruise and land tour that we did in 2005, the ship(s) go up through the "Inside Passage," so there are lots of interesting sights to see, as well as all the various types of ships and boats along the way.

I have been on 26 cruises in my lifetime and only one of them was not a great experience (not weather relat. We were on the Norwegian Epic about 5 years ago and it seemed that everything went wrong. We ran into the dock in San Juan and put a big gash in the front of the ship. Then we lost an engine (by fire) on the way back. Hit a sand bar and it took half a day to get unstuck and then part of the crew got into a huge brawl. It was a mess but really didn’t effect us much. We just kind of roll with what ever comes along. We made it back to port and they let all of us stay on the ship overnight. They opened up all the bars and buffets so we could eat and drink. They also took care of all of our exspence for having to change our flights and gave all of us credit for a free cruise in the future. The only bad thing for my wife and I was the fact that we didn’t get to go to any of the ports of call.
But we did get to go to San Juan and spend two days there. One of our favorite places.

Addition to above post:

Out of all the cruised we have been on, we have never had really bad weather. Bad enough to really rock the ship.
We have a cruise scheduled this November and another one scheduled in February. Fingers crossed that never happens. Lol

I have been on 2 cruises, both with Carnival. First one was a 5 day Western Caribbean (Cozumel and Progresso), the second was a 7 day Western Caribbean (Montego Bay, Grand Caymen, Cozumel). We were supposed to take a 3rd in Jan of 2020, but my brother, SIL and niece were in a bad car wreck and we had to cancel to help with that (btw, if you do take a cruise, buy the insurance, we lost over a grand by canceling that last cruise). We enjoyed both cruises though the 2nd was like being in college, people thought they could smoke weed all day, every day and it was worse when we left Jamaica.

I also highly recommend getting a balcony. Nothing like waking up in the morning and sitting on your own private deck to watch the sun come up over the water.

Our Royal Caribbean cruise moved from port to port overnight, we arrived at each port around 6-7 am every morning and were able to take photos arriving at each port from our balcony or out on an open deck.
