best ak47 for shtf

Not all AK's are created the same and some are just plain junk (I'm looking at you IO Inc., RAS, etc).

Just my personal opinion, but I would go with Russian (Kalash, Saiga, etc), Chinese (Norinco), or Bulgarian (Arsenal) as a first choice. There are a lot of builders out there who do a fantastic job, but there's a lot of hosers too...so make sure that you do dilligent research if you go that route. AKfiles forum is a great place for more information.

I have a few AK's, but if I had to narrow it down to one personal choice to take me with at the end of the world, it would probably be a Saiga that I've redone.

Yea Joe and cronies are almost reason enough to own an AR. Not quite but close.

As I posted in another thread, I would love to own an AK in 5.56 that uses AR mags and had a rear peep site. That would be the best rifle I could fire nowadays without pissing off my doctors.

They’re alright. But could be picky. Mine doesn’t like gen2 Pmags but gen3 work perfect.

My parts-kit Romanian "G" has been flawless, except it doesn't like Wolf hollow point for some reason. Aside from that issue, I can't recall a single malfunction, even when bump-firing the whole 30rd mag.

Those "pre-ban" barreled kits are unobtainium now. It's too bad the ATF screwed that up, building used to be good cheap fun. At least I socked away a couple for a rainy day. Will probably build them with my son when he graduates from 22LR.

glad to hear it, any of that region sound good to go. You said some letters ATF, let's face it government along with several big banks, the media, etc etc. will mess everything up that was once fun.
