One of my all time favorites right there. Can't wait to see it finished.
The video might take might take me bit longer than I had anticipated. While getting into the guts of this watch, someone clearly had zero clue what they were doing and this thing is most certainly a failed project from someone else. There is incorrectly assembled items in the chronograph, missing parts, etc. I had to source a few parts that I wasn't anticipating needing to replace. Nevertheless, when all is said and done, it will be brought back to it's former glory. Someone really did a number on this watch before I got it though. It's probably the reason I was able to get it so cheap! However I'm not complaining, it'll make for a darn interesting rebuild video!

Been waiting for a few years for it. Got the call on Thursday.

If I were to ever buy a Rolex, an Explorer II would definitely be it. Congrats!

I've thought about picking up an Ocean 39 Vintage GMT homage of a 1655, but I haven't been able to bring myself to buy a Steinhart. I do kinda like the Christopher Ward C63 GMT though...

Dammit...that's too small for my big ol' gorilla wrist. I don't like anything smaller than 43mm. :grumble:

So forgive me of my ignorance, but what is the purpose and significance of the GMT?

39mm isn't really that small for a Rolex. I know a few big wristed guys that wear a 36mm and it doesn't look out of place. IMO @chazroh 's Explorer II looks more like a 40mm or 41mm in his wrist shot.

A GMT function is for tracking time in multiple time zones.
