Had a day of rain here in Rhode Island yesterday, with the airport less than 2 miles away getting around 3 inches. That ended our work day yesterday, and while it is still cloudy and somewhat foggy in places, it doesn't look like we will get started very early today. I suspect it may be 10:00 am or later before we get going.

In most states that we have done our Summer job in, when it rains in one area, one can drive to another area and still keep working. Rhode Island is so small that just about any rain will cover the whole state. We are amazed that a state about the size of a postage stamp can have 5 million people in it.

That is, until we get out and start working and face the traffic and downtown pedestrians. Folks here think they can cross the streets anywhere and cars will stop for them. They also tend to park their cars wherever they want to park them. (Granted, most of that is within Providence itself, which also has a number of colleges and universities, whose attendees just almost dare a driver to hit them.)
While there in RI, I hope that you've photographed some of their lighthouses and will post some pictures here.

I've already posted one set of photos of the Point Judith Lighthouse, which is near one of our certification sites. While I only posted the early visit there, I've visited a second time and got some more shots with better sunlight.

Here is my first posting:

Here is a link to my second visit to the lighthouse at my Smugmug website.

Point Judith Lighthouse - Second Visit

I hope to be able to visit another one or two, but much depends on how busy we are and if I am close enough to one to be able to get photos. My biggest issue right now for taking pictures is that my knees aren't in great shape. I suspect that I am going to have to look into knee replacements, but probably after we finish our Summer job.

On another topic, I made an important discovery today. Rhode Island doesn't have the little latch bar on the gas pump nozzles, so one has to hold the handle all the time as one is filling their tank. However, I discovered that a Tums container that I have fits in their nozzles quite well.

@retrieverman Congratulations soon to be Grandpa! That’s great news! So have you thought about what the little one will call you and your wife?
I think the whole grandparent name thing is a bigger deal to women, because my wife started immediately trying to come up with hers. The kid will eventually call me something, and I’m sure I’ll be ok with it. :anyone:

We love lighthouses; here’s one I took of the Portland Head Lighthouse at Cape Elizabeth, Maine.
