Yep...cornbread and milk. Occasionally black-eyed peas. Our meat staple was bologna when we could afford it. I never didn't get enough, though.
I would trade the town kids a side meat sandwich for a bolony sandwich and think i was cutting the fat hog in the ass.

Yes I've been know to try some of that stuff. It used to be cheap enough you could grab a can of the Vienna sausage and have a snack while out in the woods or wherever. No refrigeration. Underwood deviled ham is $2.50 a can now at dollar general.
A lot of the budget prepared stuff just isn't fit to eat. Those complete meals being one of them.

Yes...and a can of spam in there too. Oh, and Bar S hotdogs don't bother me either.
