Terry, cutting the coffee has got to be the toughest part of your surgery and recovery. My consumption rate mirrors yours. Prayers for you and your doctor.

Thank you, Sir. Between the coffee reduction and the apprehension about the surgery, it has been an interesting couple of months or so. At least I'm fortunate in that I only need partial replacements and not full replacements.

What has been interesting is that my doctor doesn't refer his replacement patients to physical therapy places. He gives us something like 10 different exercises to do twice a day prior to the surgery, and those will continue after the surgery. We go in tomorrow for some pretesting for the surgery and to attend a "replacement" class. I'll likely learn more in that class. At any rate, the doctor told us that he has seen where his exercises has helped more than PT.

Terry, I have had both knees replaced (total for both), and have been very happy with the results. I seemed to do well with the PT each time, but I will be interested in how the exercise program works for you.

Keep us all posted!

David,

We chose this doctor because there are three guys at our church that had either hip or knee replacements. Two of them with hip replacements just seemed to show up one day without limps nor using a cane. I was quite impressed.

So, three personal friends recommended him, and when I've mentioned him to our family doctor, she stated that he is very good. A couple of others in the medical field have also praised him, so I'm probably not quite as apprehensive as I might have been otherwise.

I will keep everyone posted. Surgery is scheduled for a week from tomorrow, so I'm doing all I can to avoid people so that I don't pick up something prior to the surgery.

I do a 20 oz cup of very strong coffee every morning just for the taste and probably habit. Sometimes get too lazy to make it and it's not a big issue. My mom drank a pot a day and took naps. I'm not a napper, but having it or not having coffee is not a big deal. I do know some that can't function without the morning jolt.

Well, this is hands down the worst motel stay I’ve ever had. We got put in a first floor outside room on the end next to the office. I saw the ice machine next to our room yesterday, and my first thought was that it didn’t look like it was working. Well evidently it wasn’t, because at 5:45 this morning, it sounded like someone was dismantling it with a sledge hammer. Easton gets up early anyway, but I can’t just let him out here like I do at home. I put him off until 6:30, and when we went out, there was a woman right outside our room window attempting to fix (or tear apart) the ice machine. For some reason, she quit and left when we got outside.
I guess since the price was cheap I should expect the amenities and ambiance to be lacking.:anyone:

Those things are about all dependent on local management. When we have worked north Texas on our Summer jobs, two years in a row we have stayed at a La Quinta in Paris, TX and was pleased with that facility. Plus, just one or two hundred yards away was a Dairy Queen.
