Do you know when the tranny fluid was changed last?
2002 should be well before the CVT transmission problems. The fact that there is maintenance records to look for is a really good sign that it’s a well maintained vehicle, at least better than most.

Yes it's a normal transmission. I think transmissions from this era are better than new ones. I have a friend with a 2019 explorer that he had to sell cheap because the transmission went out just after warranty. So of course it can happen with any car anytime.

Just wanted to throw it out there just in case. Otherwise I'll hang on to it. Can't let it go for less than 2000 plus the price of the pulley repair (probably cheap). Not a lot of decent cars out their for that. It may be better for you to spend a little more and get something newer. Unless it's a Honda or Toyota, I doubt it will be better.

Might sound crazy but Buicks from the same era are known to be good cars. The GM 3.8 was a good engine. The car wizard sings them praises. And they can be found in that 2-3k range. They are often driven by older people that maintain them also.

I have no clue. I could dig though the maintenance records and see if can find anything. I did pull the dipstick when I got it and it was the right level and looked good.
That is all I needed to know. We are very interested but it will be Wednesday at the earliest before we can get to the bank to see about money. Home health coming tomorrow and a pulmonologist Tuesday. (getting old sucks)

The window switch I can usually change myself, or at least I have done them before. :P

FFS really?

It’s very competitively priced. But it Won’t mulch. It Won’t bag. And got Dirty fluids? Ship it down the creek and start over.
Sorry if my asking a question offended you children. The wife asked me, so I asked him. She has heard of the transmission problems some Nissans have had. Really I should admit she likes to read over my shoulder and only understands about half of it. Of course the way cars are changing I am not a whole lot better. I still miss my 65 Chevy pickups that anybody could work on. :P

No rush, no plan to sell it otherwise. Also I need to get the idler pulley replaced. Or just the bearings really.

I'll also analyze and document every and any little thing I can find wrong with it and send it to you. As of now I've posted everything I know of. But it is 20 plus years old. Usually with older cars I just care about major leaks or any drivability issues so I don't study them too much.

Oh it also has a factory DVD player and remote in the back seat that work. At least it did a year ago My buddy bought a new infiniti and was a little annoyed at how similar they are. Haha

Offended, goodness no. For me anyway, I can’t speak for others. You have a good enough sense of humor to realize that the way this proposed transaction presents itself in the forum is amusing. I sincerely wish you the best of luck in your search. And My wife is the tranny expert in my house too. I can’t tell em apart for nothing.
