Trapping is becoming a lost art. Anyone that traps and is reading this post please take a weekend of your time this year and teach a young person the skills needed to catch their first masked bandit, or spotted feline. The younger generations have no idea the joy involved in rounding the trail and discovering a nice double, or tracking the drag until you find that coyote hung in the fence corner. Thanks

This is so true.I don't consider myself a trapper as much as a predator caller.I really do enjoy trapping but it has gotten very difficult to get land to trap on. I have had the privelage of running a trap line a few times with a professional trapper and it is always a learning experience for me.

You know I am starting to like you more and more...

That is a nice looking cat.

I was stalked by a cat on a hunt in 2004, if it had been fur bearer season, I could have had a nice cat. He hung around my ground blind for about 15 minutes walking around and at times letting out a low growl...he finally moved on.

Its never happened to me, but turkey hunters in the spring have been attacked by bob cats, while completely camo'd, and making calls. I'd bet they could scratch you up pretty good.

You kill all those critters? I have seen that pic around the national mags and boards before, if that is you then consider me your Daniel Son and you my Mister Miagee! I have called and killed a few cats and a boat load of coyotes but that is awe inspiring.

No it isn't him....he was just joking with me. That is an old pic. I don't know who it is but I would bet it is a professional trapper/snare man. I would not want to skin all those coyotes though. Maybe he hired a skinner.

Looks like an old Craig O'Gorman pic maybe. I used to do a lot of trapping when I lived in Louisiana, mainly water species, and I do miss it sometimes myself. Is it illegal to use snares in OK? I've been told it is, at least when I was living out in western OK. Lots of good places to snare out there I always thought.
