The speed of sound depends on temp and pressure. At sea level... 68 deg F....... in dry air.... the speed of sound is 1125 FPS

I try to keep my subsonics around 1050 fps here.

Even though the "constant" speed of sound is 1125fps, I wouldnt stray more than 25-50fps above 1000. In fact, I would say just enough that your gun cycles reliably.

You are correct. But like stated above most will load them around 1050 or so.

You can load 200gr 40's to around 800-850 if that creams your twinkie.
