I'm stunned right now and this hit me like a ton of bricks. Her doctors told us yesterday that they suspect that she may have ovarian cancer. I need advice, I have no idea how to handle this. She is on her parents insurance so they are doing what they can but I also want to make sure that I do what I can for her as well.

Her mom has contacted the Cancer Treatment Center of America in Phoenix where she lives, so my SO may go out there so she can fight this with her mom's support. This is all happening fast and she is planning on leaving early next week. Is that hospital the best option? Any advice and prayers are greatly appreciated.

Prayers sent. Sorry to hear about this. Honestly I have no idea where the best treatment is. I do know that prayer works, being around family and friends. I know this will be hard on the both of you. Hang inthere

I'm familiar with the Cancer Treatment Center here in Tulsa, have toured it a few times, and my next door neighbor works there. There's no doubt it's top notch and takes a very holistic approach to treatment. That said, CTCA is not usually the first line of approach and also, many insurance policies may not cover treatment there. Also, if she's going to AZ, there's also the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale for another top-notch medical facility but it also has insurance issues. For you, your job is just to be there and supportive in any way possible because that ton of bricks you felt was more like ten tons for her. Her parents are going to be in the driver's seat because she is still under their coverage so I'm sure they'll get well-read in by their insurance office on options and coverage. Expect the insurance to take a local oncologist approach initially and they may pay for second opinions/consultations.

Bad stuff. Cancer sucks a big ole fat one.

I will send some good mojo your way.

Best thing you can do for her is to keep her spirits high and be there for her. You be her rock. She will go threw some bad days before anything ever happens. It will be real tough on you too, but keep her in mind every day.

Wishing you the best... and people beat this crap all the time, just make sure shes one of them.

Man prayers for you and your girlfriend, aggressive treatment the sooner the better, at this point you need to be there to lift her spirits and give her hope.
