How cheap will AR's get?

See, that's kind of what I'm talking about. I'm not saying, in any way, shape or form, that that isn't a good deal. But, when it's +/- 3x what I can buy a regular AR for, it's really hard to bite. I'll probably end up getting a CZ Scorpion eventually, I just need to shoot one in person before I commit the money to it.

Have you checked PSA lately? Using their upper assembly & lower, I could build a 7.5" 9mm with QMS trigger and Shockwave Blade for under $600 + shipping + transfer.

The parts on his gun aren't 3x the price. The only things in that gun that are more than a 5.56 gun are the lower (only compared to cheap forged lowers) and the BCG (again, only compared to cheap BCGs).

I might bite on a 9mm lower sometime, but I would really rather a .40. Haven't done any research on those, really.

As an aside, I really can't fathom ARs in general dropping below $400 very far or for long. I can build some in that range, but they're bare bones, for sure.

So did a quick check. You can build a decent 16" with M-Lok rail & QMS trigger for just under $500 + shipping & trasfer. The 9mm BCG and Lower make up nearly all of that $100 difference.

PSA has a lower on sale for $199 and a complete upper for $299.
both have free shipping.
I sort of like the 45 acp version.

Wish somebody around here had one of those for you to shoot possibly at the JUNE ENS

I hadn't checked lately. It seems like every time I check they have the complete lowers in stock or the complete uppers in stock, but not both. Of course, today, they have both and I've already gone through my fun money for the month. I'll definitely be keeping an eye out.

The 9mm PSA guns seem to be hit or miss as far as reliability for competitive use. The ones I have seen locally have been more miss than hit. For plinking I'm sure they are fine. For USPSA and 3-Gun matches, not so much. 9mm in general seems to be kind of a "specialty" market. I was pretty shocked at the prices of good parts. I built one anyway. Shooting PCC division in USPSA is a hell of a lot of fun. The gun in the classifieds is a hell of a buy for a match ready PCC rig. Most (if not all) of the parts came from Make Ready Pro Shop in OKC. Comparing it to a PSA gun isn't really an apples to apples comparison. Like everything else, it all depends on the requirements and the intended use of the gun.

Just to be clear, I wasn't trying to compare the two. I was making the point that if he was comparing that nice ~$1500 9mm AR to a $500 budget bin AR then the PSA 9mm was more comparable.
