Just ran some Radon tests in my house, it's high, as in VERY HIGH! Gonna need to fix that and looks like a fairly simple solution, just vent it out of the house. It's coming from a sump in my basement. Anybody on here had this done? Any tips you can give me to make it go easier?
Thanks in advance...

Never had it done, but I'm marginally familiar with the process. There are a couple of different ways of going about it, and you also need to be concerned with mold due to increased indoor humidity. Get somebody who is an expert, ask lots of questions, and demand to see lab reports.

Do not mess around with it; radon is the second-leading cause of lung cancer, behind smoking (source: http://www.lung.org/lung-health-and...t-is-lung-cancer/what-causes-lung-cancer.html).

Radon is a scam
Check out the decay chain:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radon#Daughters

Note that alphas are the most destructive radioactive particles, consisting of a helium nucleus (2 protons, 2 neutrons); they're easily shielded, but when you inhale them, there's no shielding. Betas are less destructive, but deeper-penetrating (a high-speed electron ejected from the nucleus). Before you get to anything even remotely stable, you've had three alphas and two betas...and the stable-ish thing you're left with is lead. That lead is deposited in your lung, where it's free to be transported around the body.

And before you suggest that I'm an anti-nuclear paranoiac, check my post history. I'm hugely in favor of nuclear power, specifically because I understand how radiation works, and how to mitigate it.

I had a house in Montgomery Co. MD that sat on a mica bed over the huge deposit running up to Camp David area.
On a calm morning the ambient air in my yard would show out of limits for Radon, and any sumps in the basement would always show unsafe levels.
Just vent the sumps to the outdoors and sleep well at night. I added a dehumidifier in the basement for dryness and added venting in the winter, since I had hot water heat.
The danger is easily mitigated to negligible risk, and there are expensive scams being run on Radon mitigation you want to avoid.

Coalgate, Ok.
Not sure where your home is located, but it's mostly in the NE part of the state, below I-40 not so much. Zero where I live.
If you haven't found anyone, PM me and I think I can find you someone or move info.

Thanks for all the replies! I've been gone all weekend and just got back home. I've already tested for Radon and it's high, as in VERY HIGH. Over 200 in the basement closet where the (dry) sump is, over 20 in the basement and over 6 just upstairs. Action level is 2 so I gotta do something. I will contact the area (no local) remediation companies and get something done ASAP.
