I prefer Smith, Ruger and old Taurus in that order. Smith has a great action, Ruger will last forever and the old Taurus are good Smith copies. For CC I would go with a 38+P over a 357.

Yes, if you are weak and limp wristed get the .38 instead of the more manly .357 magnum.

Ruger or S&W, whichever you prefer. S&W have the nicest action out there. Rugers are generally built like tanks and with decent care will outlast your grandkids. Both have their pluses. Pick one, and feed it often.

Taurus? Nope. :nolike:

This. Couldn't have said it better. However, I would say save your money and your hand and go with a 38 special, even a +p over a 357 if you're looking for a snubby conceal carry revolver. A 357 will blow fireballs out of a snubby and they hurt like hell after a few rounds.
The Ruger LCR has a nice trigger and is lightweight. A J frame Smith is the perfect pocket piece (my opinion)..... They're simple, sturdy, and the older ones are like little pieces of art.

Or have ever fired a short barreled 357 in low light. Even +P is bad. I fired a 2-1/2 M19 in low light once. The muzzle blast made it very hard to see for a while. Personally I would love to have a good 38+P J frame in stainless with a 3 in barrel. No barrel lug and with fixed sights. To me that would be the perfect carry gun.

We purposefully trained in low and no light conditions in a indoor gun range. SW 686 158 gr JHP. Learn how to shoot using the "flash sight picture". Absolute confidence builder.

A new Smith & Wesson would probably be the best choice if you're only looking to shoot and carry. They're well built and come with a warranty. I hate the look and idea of the lock but it doesn't cause any problems.

Rugers are nice, but the cast frames make them bulkier than they need to be.

I'd carry a Charter Arms before I'd carry a Taurus.

I didn't used to care for revolvers, but I've really started to like them a lot. Have a Taurus .357 2" that is painful to shoot, a Taurus 6" 8-shot .357 I've been meaning to send back for like 6 or 7 years with a mistimed cylinder. Then started on S&W, have a 629 Classic .44 and couple weeks back picked up a 686 .357. I'm looking around for another nice big revolver, missed a good deal on a GP100 here recently. Disappointed.

Personally I'd agree with lots of the above posters, S&W or Ruger.

Oh, I forgot the Super Redhawk .44 7 3/8" I shouldn't ever have sold off. :(
