My heart goes out to you. This is surely a difficult time, but sounds like a much needed move. My father in law will be 91 this May. He has lived with us for the last 7 years. There are times I feel like he needs in a facility, but Mrs. GED wont stand for it.

How about finding some local help, in the area, maybe a older person from a church needing part time help, ask a minister, a stay at home mom looking for a few extra dollars, a LPN ...someone to stop by five days a week or so, take care ..basic food ...help out...you checking in weekends.

My prayers are with you and your parents.

Yes it does. My mother had a stroke in 1998 and I tried to take care of her. I was the only family she had here in Oklahoma. My 24 hour shift schedule forced me to put her into a home. She passed three months later.

Sorry to hear that. It is true it is always hardest on the caretaker if it's a relative. Get advice on homes from someone besides the home! Are you looking for one in Mustang? If you use a local INDEPENDENT pharmacy in the area that is where you should ask first. I know the Weaver's that own United Pharmacy in Yukon that could give you advice in that area

Sorry to hear Clay. I'm setting up a computer to office out of my mom's sunroom right now. I'm hoping that I can avert doing this with her and my step dad. Mom can't drive because of macular degeneration but is in otherwise not too bad of shape. Step dad is another matter. He is in heart failure and has hallucinations occasionally because his blood oxygen is low and he doesn't use his oxygen or cpap. He ain't gonna change either. Time will tell, but I'm hoping we don't have to go down this road with him.
