Trump isn't the first to come to the conclusion America needs manufacturing in key industries, doesn't mean its going to happen and create jobs, they will be HIGHLY automated factories. There is no world where we have say, 20,000 people in a single factory going forward.
I hink we not only need to be doing our own manufacturing in key industries but we (USA citizens and stockholders) need to own the companies on our soil. Way too many businesses in the US are owned by forign entities.
I'm just curious, how are we supposed to keep foreign investors from buying US companies? Or stock or a controlling interest in? I'm just curious, not being argumentative?
Short of 'nationalizing' industries the way places like Venezuela has done in the past, I'm not sure of a good way to prevent it, when you have publicly traded stock and such.

Well this is my point. I have no idea how to do this with the present situation, but if you do some research, we have sold off a lot of American businesses to forign investors. full ownership, not just stocks. Provision to require US citizenship for control or something. I am sure others are smarter than me who can see this is not a good thing. What would happen if China decided to not ship us anything and lock every plant door they have ownership control of in the US for a couple months? Would not be a good situation.
Yeah... I believe American businesses should be owned by (or at least franchised to) US citizens.
More importantly, I believe American real estate should be owned exclusively by US citizens.
