I'm on the Arkansas River a couple times a week, and I see over a thousand teal a day, every day!
Numbers have been down for years. I'm staying optimistic thinking that just because their normal nesting areas were dry, those birds just didn't land there, stay there and think "well, no water no eggs" lol. I'm sure they went on until they found water.Since this is the first year I'll be going duck hunting again in several years I hope it's not true but I saw on a waterfowl hunting forum that numbers are expected to be down significantly this year because the main nesting areas in Canada are suffering through a drought.........we'll see.
I will be keeping the wolves away.Anyone taking kids, vets or AD out for ducks tomorrow? Geese opens as well. Panhandle ducks opened on Oct 9th but sounds like folks haven't seen much.
