I tried a garden this year but thought it would be futile with all the deer in my backyard. Not a single deer got in the garden.

Solar electric fence.
Run 2 wires on the first fence, approx. 14" high and 36" high.
Run another fence 3' out from the first. Run this wire approx. 24".

Somehow it messes with their depth perception and they won't jump it.

I read some people will hang tabs of aluminum foil on the line and smear it with peanut butter. Helps them learn quick. I didn't do it and it worked well.

The deer didn't bother the tomatoes in our garden back when putting one in, but they were hell on the beans.
Thinking back, beans were the only thing they ate.
