One time I had a theory that residents would taste better than migrants, flying much less and all. That theory was wrong. Residents taste like crap too.
Not sure where you are, but I had several big groups of geese flying over my place last week going to and from the refuge (I assume). I expect the cranes will be there by next weekend (if they’re not already). Muzzleloader season has always seemed like the start of crane season.
Didn't get to hunt last year because the shallow pond we hunt was so low.....buddy took these yesterday afternoon, standing in the blind, and it looks like the water is almost up to the blind with a lot of good weeds showing that grew up last summer so we should be good to go Nov. 11th.
