We adopted through DHS about 10 years ago and they gave us the name of an attorney and there was no cost to us.
Thanks for all of the input and help guys. We are kind of in a unique situation. The little boy we want has a half sibling who is living with her aunt. The dad is deceased and the mother has had her rights terminated. The other side doesn't really want him due to their not having a blood relationship. Plus he has some special needs. They want us to have him and we have agreed to visitations to keep up the relationship. They are currently separated. DHS after 2 years of separation has decided to pull them both and try to place them together in a single home. So we and the other side are fighting together against DHS to try and make it happen. It doesn't make sense that DHS separated them and now won't allow them to continue being separated. The only thing that would change is that we would adopt the boy.
