You haven't heard yet? The EPA has greenlit asbestos exceptions again for manufacturers, depending on the product.

It's been awhile, but my rent house(that I don't have anymore) had encapsulated asbestos shingles for siding. I converted the attached garage to a third bedroom, and had to buy the shingles to match the rest of the house. They were still available then by special order.

There's a ton of articles that popped out about it yesterday. They're not greenlighting a free-for-all, but they're allowing it back into manufacturing of select products

Fiber cement? Make sure its not asbestos. A lot of the homes built in the 40's had asbestos siding. As long as its encapsulated in the siding, it's perfectly safe, but if one tries to sand or scrape, you may release the fibers which can be dangerous.

My home was built in 2007 so it’s good.
