Ar15 in 5.56 for a 1000 yard gun.. thoughts.

He doesn't care about accuracy or bullet performance at that range is what I think. Sounds like he is just looking for an excuse to dump some money into an ar15.

I read today that a guy is wanting to build a 5.56 ar15 for a 1000 yard shooter. Definately not the caliber I would pick but he stated he wants a challenge. Seems counterproductive to me. What are your thoughts?

24” 1:7 barreled upper from white oak armament, black hills 77 grain OTM, Id throw lead at 1000 with I had the funding. No, its not even remotely the best option but if I had to do a long range gun in that cartridge, itd be that set up.
