There are Black Officer Associations, Hispanic Officer Associations, Christian Officer Associations, so who cares if there are Gay Officer Associations. As long as they do their jobs correctly, why does it matter?

I agree with this part. I just don't agree when we pick who gets a promotion by filling a quota, which seems to happen sometimes.

Normally, it wouldn't. But in this case:

ATF says it has created an LGBT affinity group called "ATF Pride"

It denotes that the ATF itself created the agency - not a group of GLBT employees forming their own group. I'm pretty sure (but not positive) that the groups you mentioned are formed from individual employees on their own - not formed by the agency itself.

And yeah - no "White Officers Association". But I'm not getting on that topic.
