The Ed Brown Commander Bobtail guns are excellent, and as small as I will go in a 1911 gun.

Do yourself a favor, and look at the cheesy guide rod in the smaller 1911's (sub 4 inch) and ask yourself if you want to trust your life to a piece of tinfoil.

I have a Kimber Ultra RCP pistol that hasn't malfunctined at all, but have less than 300 rounds in it (230gr WWB ball, RA45T and mostly 200gr LSWC reloads). It's a fraction thinner and about the same weight than my Glock G36 and competes for IWB duty.

Price? Used $750 off of Gunbroker. New? Too much to risk wearing the finish off against my sweaty cheek.

In the compact .45ACP single stack pistol catagory, it's hard to beat the G36 for price and reliability.
