Not sure, I thought it was the XL, but not 100%. I saw it was $899.99 at Sam's. I am in Tulsa, is Everything BBQ a OKC store or is it online? I really want one, and am thinking seriously about picking one up. Have you smoked anything on it yet? I don't have a smoker, and that part really appeals to me.

What Sam's is selling is a large.

Every year at everything BBQ you can order demo eggs that are used once during the egg fest. That's when I got mine and my friends went to Illinois to get theirs, it will save you off the purchase price and will give you one of the best grills on the market!

It is the best cooker I have used. You can completely control the cook from 750 steaks to 17 hour pork butts! Plus choose the amount of smoke you use. It the five years of owning mine the thanksgiving turkeys have been a huge hit!

Been looking at kamado grills like the BGE & the Kamado Joe, (Culinary Kitchen off N. Western & 72nd will be doing a Kamado Joe demo this sat the 27th around noon, btw). I did find out that Lowes sells a lower end kamado from Char Griller called the Akorn http://www.lowes.com/pd_131712-49769-6719_4294703263__?storeNumber=2540&selectedLocalStoreBeanArray=%5Bcom.lowes.commerce.storelocator.beans.LocatorStoreBean%407e1c7e1c%5D&productId=3609214&ipTrail=68.12.15.83&Ns=p_product_qty_sales_dollar%7C1, it runs about $299.00 and from what I have been able to find, with a very few modifications, this 300 dollar job will run along side a BGE, a good thread with its pros & cons can be found here: http://www.bbq-brethren.com/forum/showthread.php?t=127379.
I may hold off till Memorial Day weekend to make my final decision, but so far the Akorn is gonna save me more cash for meat & fixens'.

I just bought one from lowes about a week ago. I've never had a BGE so I can't fairly compare them, but at the price it has been a good grill. I can easily get it up to 750+ to sear steaks, and yesterday I smoked a brisket at 250 degrees for 8 hours without the temperature budging. It's not full ceramic, it's only lined on the lid, but it does not appear to have much difficulty holding temperature well.

Also a hint, lowes price matches some online retailers....
