what do you do? Homemade or ?

Homemade. Just potato at first, then maybe some butter, then garlic seasoning. We managed this trick a few months before. Need to know exactly how many ounces she drank before night time. Supplement with solids (not replace). When she woke up at night we knew if she was hungry or seeking comfort. Comfort had to wait 5 minutes, But then no boob unless absolutely necessary. Once we got comfortable with 5 minutes we went to 8 etc.

We always added a little rice baby cereal to the formula after about 4 or 5 months, especially at night.

Sounds harsh, but you might try letting it cry himself back to sleep and start cutting back the night time feedings. It'll cut you far deeper than your little guy, but new routines come with the pains of change.
