These laws are thought up by people that don't know jack **** about firearms. Maroons.

LOL
Maroon: When the slave ships had a troublemaking slave-to-be they would drop him off on a small island or rock in the middle of the ocean thus 'marooning' him. http://www.rsdb.org/slur/maroon

I can see the price of aftermarket firing pins rising...

I agree, microstamping is about making things difficult on manufactures and making firearms more expensive for consumers. The majority of firearms used in crimes are unregistered or registered to someone other than the person committing the crime, i.e. stolen. It would have no significant impact on crimes committed with a firearm.

Microstamping isn't about solving crimes or even that the technology works. It's about registration, gun bans and taxation.

Yup. And Colt and Remington don't care about those issues or our rights. They would simply be dodging that cost of doing business in those states.

Close, but not exactly:
http://www.thefreedictionary.com/maroon

[From French marron, fugitive slave, from American Spanish cimarrón, wild, runaway, perhaps from cima, summit (from runaways' fleeing to the mountains), from Latin cma, sprout; see cyma.]

Maybe they should engrave it in the last inch of the rifling. That way they could have it printed on the side of he bullet. Or better yet, make it a law that when you shoot somebody, you have to go leave your information on the victim. That would work too.
