Man robbed by men posing as law officers

Bandits who claimed they were on a “crime investigators task force” robbed a man at his home Tuesday afternoon.

The men stolen an unspecified number of guns from the victim at a home in the 10900 block of East 28th Place, Officer Leland Ashley said.

Ashley said that the Tulsa Police Department does not have a unit by that name and the robbers appeared to be impersonating law enforcement officers. Actual undercover officers would always commission cards that they could show someone is asked, he said.

The two robbers approached the man in his garage just after 2 p.m., when the man had just finished mowing his lawn, police said.
One man wearing a blue baseball cap with the word “police” on the front. He also had what appeared to be a badge on his belt, Ashley said. The robber was described as being white, 25 to 35 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall, 165 to 185 pounds and having hazel eyes and blonde hair.

The other robber was described as white and 40 to 50 years old. He was wearing a white baseball cap and sunglasses, Ashley said.

One of the robbers pulled a gun on the victim and forced him inside. The robbers tied up the man and two women in the house with rope and zip-ties, took their cell phones and the women's purses. They also took several guns from the victim's safe, police said.

The robbers then put the stolen items in the victim's car, which was found a few hours later, abandoned, in the 2300 block of North 145th East Avenue.

The male victim freed himself about 15 minutes after the robbers left and went next door to call police.

This could have ended very badly. Never let your guard down! :nono2:
