Spent some time this afternoon looking for birds. Cut corn, cut milo, wheat stubble, water. Saw 5 birds in about 20 miles worth of looking.
I drove through a thick field of sunflowers today that is next to a good sized pond with plenty of water. Two birds flew out of it. I’m not expecting much for early in the season.

Lessee burned off the wheat fields on three quarters as it didn't produce enough to harvest.
We have a pond on another quarter across the road that is a dove magnet. Neighbor has been scouting for three days and one of ours across from the pond has a hundred or so on the highlines.
He has 4 kids with dads for a hunt and I have one with dad. He put 20 round bales out on top of the hill where they have been feeding/passing for a blind as well as shade. It's going to be close to 100* tomorrow. Drink lots of water way before getting there.

I’ll shoot an old a5 “Twenty”. It’s not a Light Twenty but it’s not a magnum either. Just an old 20.

I’ll also shoot an old 101 20 and a brand new Benelli Montefeltro 20.

Hopefully some birds have built in since we burned a couple weeks ago.

Went out this morning set by pond had few come in nothing close enough to shoot. Moved over an set up by fresh cut corn field, long story didn’t get even one bird. On way home all along edge dirt roads an high line wires. Made me think back to my teenage years!!
