I think the 'natural-cause-for-the-earthquakes' deniers would find some way to poo-poo any drilling to actually check it out. They are scared of being exposed as fear mongers should any test show the waste water isn't even reaching the faults. If their theory - and it is just a theory - is proven wrong, their goes their backing and any hopes of suing the oil companies out of business.

Ok I'm converted, what's the Hobbes solution?
In some areas they are going to have to stop injecting into the arbuckle formation, because it is right on top of the granite basement layer, and inject into a formation higher up.
Those formations don't accept water as readily however so injection rates will have to be reduced and profits will suffer sadly.:(
