My previous pairs of glasses had adjustable ear pieces, they worked great.

M new pair, picked up Friday has the traditional ear piece. But the frames have a bent inward shape so they grip the temples well.

If the prescription works out I will be taking one of my other frames in and having new lenses installed.

As above, your optometrist office can adjust them and if they don't already have silicon nose pads, ask them to replace with silicon. Likely will cost you nothing but a few minutes time.
