I think this poll is great. It's nice to know that the old Yankee Fist is still in the running A HUNDRED YEARS later, head to head with the Glock. I wonder what it is about that old 1911 warhorse? Besides the fact that it works of course.

Just one question though, what does "practical" mean? practical for what? home defense? carry? hunting? dinosaur hunting?

even the S&W 500 would be practical for the right use...
besides, it ain't that bad to shoot....
