I voted for Glock. It is about as practical as one can get in my opinion. I've carried a Glock 19 as a duty gun for many years and I got my first Glock 19 about 12 years ago. I still have it. It's a Gen 1 and I carry a Gen 3. I would like to look at carrying the Glock 26. My carry gun over the years has been a Cheif's Special. It's comfortable for me to carry but I'm not a big fan of the .38 Special. It's all about the budget though.
My choice for the best all around handgun would be a 4" S&W 686. Legal for IDPA, concealable, legal for hunting deer, easy to reload for, durable finish, and I have never had a single problem with mine.
