Fishing reel

Recommend a bait casting reel. I have a 6'6" Medium Light action rod. What is the Savage or the bait casting reels? This will end up being my back up reel.

My recommendations usually start and end with Shimano. I've also had good service from Ambassadeur Black Max reels, but my go to is the Curado series from Shimano.

Very important. As mentioned a the Abu Black Max is a pretty good reel for the money. Academy has them for 49.99 right now. I've got 3 baitcasters and for me they go like this.

1. Shimano Curado
2. Abu Garcia RevoS
3. Shimano Cardiff

I've got the RevoS on a 6.5ft medium and I really like that setup.

And this is the perfect time to buy a reel from Bass Pro with their trade-in sale. Only problem is that Shimano's aren't included in that promotion. I'm a Shimano guy, too. But I only use the round reels (Calcutta B's and TE's).

I have 2 Black Max's, a Revo SX, and a beat up Shimano.

I have heard good things about Academy's H20 Express Reels and may give one of those a try on my next purchase.

Well, you can drop the curado way off that list. If you're looking to use it for bass fishing go with the Black Max at that price point.
