Why Ruger doesn't bring back these, the 96/44 or the 99/44 back escapes logic.

Congrats to your grandson on his first deer! Great rifle too. Did you recover the bullet from the deer? I'm interested to see how well it mushroomed or if it broke apart. There will be some deer die with mine this season.

Naw, had to do the cleaning myself. 9's a little young for handling a knife safely, but a couple years I'll have him doing it.

Didn't find the bullet, fished for it a little though. XTP's have performed excellent for me in the past. The deer was quartering to us, bullet could have been in his hind quarter.

I was at Cabellas in Wichita this evening, and spotted a .44mag lever gun Marlin Model 1894 . Just about walked out with it.
