Last picture of the inscription on the plate, loaded .45 Colt, loaded 10mm, test guns and recovered bullets. The 10mm weight about 185 grains, the .45 Colt was 246 grains, and the .45 ACP I didn't bother to weigh since it smooshed out on the cardboard behind the plate. So far, the 45 was the only one to "fail" the penetration test, if you can call it that. I was going to shoot the .357, but the neighbor was playing rodeo and all I have are factory 158 gran hollowpoints. I'm not sure that would make the test "fair" to use hp, but then again, this isn't scientific by any means. It is fun to shoot stuff though.

Distance to the target was about 5-7 yards for all shots.

Man I was wanting to see what the 357 did.
I like a 357 and there are Ruger only loads for 45 Colt.
Going to be hard to beat that 10 though.
I think any one of them besides the 45ACP would be fine and the 45 ACP may get the job
done as Bears have been killed by .22 rifles.

Of those listed 10mm is best choice, followed by a very hot loaded 45 colt. 220gr hard cast is made for dangerous game specifically in 10mm. Underwood has what you need. Or if you’re in the yukon area, I buy usually enough to get free shipping, so have some if you needed a mag or a box. Midway also has free shipping in orders right now and have the best underwood prices

At underwood’s main site, midway usa likely has better pricing and reduced or it was free shipping

I try and get the .357 done this afternoon. Hopefully the cowboy next door won’t be roping in the wind.

I've posted this story before but it's still a good story. My wife and I went to Wyoming a years ago. This was around the 4th of july, we stayed at Ta Wa Tee Lodge, which is located on the eastern mountian that makes up Jackson Hole. This lodge is near the top of Ta Wa Tee Pass, problibly not spelled correctly, a Polish word I think? This Pass is about 10,000 ft. and the weather was great at this altitude in july. We stayed in a cabin, and there was nothing else around but the Lodge and these cabins. I was walking every morning back then, so I started out on my walk, on a forest service road into the woods. There was a sign that said, " CAUTION GRIZZLY AREA, SPECIAL RULES APPLY!" I decided to go back to the cabin and get a pistol we had in the car. My wife was in the shower, so I went on my walk! GREAT place to walk, at breaks in the tember you could see Jackson Hole, and the TEETONS, and it was in the 40's !!! When I got back, I told my wife about this sign, and said that I'm glad we brought this pistol, a lady Smith 38 revolver. She, being the smart ass she is, said, what were you going to do with that little pistol, shoot yourself if a Grizzly got you down? I still laugh about that 20, years later!

I looked at MidwayUSA. I *think* they showed the 220 grain out of stock. Anyway, I went to Underwood’s site, signed up for the veterans discount and got 10% off. I didn’t get the 220 from them though, just the 200 grn. Total cost plus shipping was $36 ish. If I don’t think the 200’s will work after testing, I may get some of the 220. I just have to come up with a better testing protocol now.
